Description:

[0001] The present invention relates to a novel internal combustion engine.

[0002] In the development of internal combustion engines, one of the main goals is to make as effective use as possible of the energy obtained by the fuel used, i.e. to achieve as high an efficiency as possible, in order thereby to save fuel.

[0003] In the prior art, reciprocating piston engines are known in which the work performed by the expansion of the gases generated by the combustion of fuel in a cylinder is transmitted to a piston and further to a crankshaft through a connecting rod, wherein the connecting rod has a joint connection to the piston and the crankshaft (crank drive), respectively. Thus, the oscillating movement of the piston is converted into a rotational movement, i.e. a torque is generated.

[0004] A disadvantage of the force transmission in these conventional reciprocating piston engines is that mechanical dead points are present due to the crank drive, toward which points the transmitted force decreases in a sinusoidal manner.

[0005] The present invention has for its object to further increase the efficiency of conventional internal combustion engines, in order to thus enable a more fuel-saving operation.

[0006] The present invention is based on the finding that, by virtue of a special shape of the cylinders, the piston thrust movement generated therein can be converted directly into a torque and the transmitted force is thus always transmitted tangentially, i.e. at the sinusoidal angle of 90°, to a shaft.

[0007] The present invention therefore provides an internal combustion engine which is characterized in that it comprises two cylinders which are in the form of a segment of a circle in their longitudinal direction and in each of which a piston is arranged such that it can be moved from a position at a minimum distance from the cylinder head P min to a position at a maximum distance from the cylinder head P max and in each case a connecting rod which is in the form of a segment of a circle in its longitudinal direction, a freewheel assigned to each cylinder on the sides of the pistons remote from the combustion chamber,

[0001] The present invention relates to a novel dual piston pumping device.

[0002] Piston pumps in various embodiments are known in the prior art, see, for example, Dubbel, Machinbau, Chapter H8.

[0003] The present invention has the object of providing a piston pump which achieves a high efficiency, enables the most uniform possible delivery of the delivered fluid and is simple and cost-effective to produce.

[0004] The present invention therefore provides a novel double piston pumping device which comprises a first hydraulic cylinder and a second hydraulic cylinder, each of which is completely filled with a fluid, preferably a liquid, and in each of which a drive piston and a working piston are movably arranged, wherein the device is designed such that an external driving force can act on the drive pistons, by means of which the drive pistons move in opposite directions, as a result of which the working pistons likewise move in opposite directions and this opposite movement is assisted by a mechanical coupling of the working pistons, and the device furthermore comprises a first and a second pumping unit for conveying a fluid, preferably a liquid, which is assigned to the first and the second hydraulic cylinder, respectively, wherein the rear sides of the working pistons of the first and second hydraulic cylinders are each connected to the assigned pumping unit in such a way, that fluid is alternately sucked in and ejected by the reciprocating movement of the working pistons in the pump unit connected thereto, and wherein the suction and ejection of the fluid to be conveyed in the two pump units take place in a time-shifted manner.

[0005] The pump device according to the invention enables, on the one hand, the transmission of the force acting on the drive pistons by means of the hydraulic fluid located in the hydraulic cylinders to the working pistons, which in turn transmit the force to the pump units which bring about the delivery of the fluid to be delivered.
